Dear Vasishta,

Due to changes in European privacy regulations, Sedo is updating our Domain Parking Service, and associated Terms and Conditions, to assist domain owners comply with the new requirements. The recent regulations apply to any website visitor from the European Union regardless of where a domain owner may reside, so whether you’re a customer of Sedo GmbH or Sedo.com, LLC these new changes will apply to all of your existing or newly parked domains, effective 01.01.2019.

The primary change to Sedo’s Domain Parking Service is a change to the landing pages for your parked domain where a data protection declaration and cookie notice will be shown to visitors on your behalf as the domain owner.
In accordance with our prior Domain Parking Service Terms and Conditions, these changes shall be deemed accepted by you and shall become an effective part of the contract if you do not object within two (2) calendar weeks in writing. In the event of an objection, Sedo is entitled to terminate your access to the Domain Parking Service. If you do not agree to the changes to the Domain Parking Service, and associated Terms and Conditions, you can terminate your use of the Domain Parking Service by e-mail or by changing your domain name’s DNS setting away from Sedo’s servers. If you choose, you may request to delete your free Sedo user account as well.

These changes to the Domain Parking Service resulted from the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which came into force in the European Union in May 2018. As a domain owner parking your domains on Sedo’s platform, within the scope of tracking website visitors to monetize your domain(s), Sedo collects and processes personal data on your behalf. The GDPR requires, among other things, that the person responsible, in this case you, the domain owner, display a data protection declaration and a cookie on your parked page.

To assist our parking customers, the Domain Parking Service now offers you the option to display a non-binding data protection declaration and cookie notice on your domain landing page. However, please note that Sedo does not represent or warrant that the data protection declaration and cookie notice meet relevant regulation standards and only offer the option as a complimentary feature of the Domain Parking Service.

Sedo shall not be liable for the correctness and/or completeness of the data protection declaration and cookie notice content as the data protection requirements apply to you personally as the domain owner. If you wish to receive more detailed information about your data protection obligations - in particular about the provision of the data protection declaration and the cookie notice and their contents, Sedo suggests you seek legal advice.

Sedo must acquire your consent to these features as you are legally responsible for the provision, accuracy, and completeness of the data protection declaration and cookie notice content. Unless you object within two (2) weeks after receipt of this e-mail, your consent to the default display of the data protection declaration and the cookie notice on your parked domains is deemed to have been given,

In asking for your consent, Sedo would like to inform you of the risk of potential third-party consequences if you object, and that if you do object, you may not be fulfilling your data protection obligations.

Finally, please remember that as the person responsible for your parked domains, you must provide information about your person/company in your data protection declaration. For this reason, you are obliged by data protection law to keep your data ready in the domain imprint, which will link to your data protection declaration. Please contact contact@sedo.co.uk to request assistance.

We wish you much fun and success in your domain business and look forward to supporting you in the future as well!

Best regards,
Your Sedo Team
